The Mustard Neck Warmer
Melbourne Winters are notoriously hideous- rainy, windy, grey, enough to give even the most emotionally stable SAD disorder. But this Winter has been particularly awful, especially considering that it actually started 2 months early. So what's a girl to do? I think the only way to manage the encroaching blues and insatiable appetite is to rug up and start knitting.
I had a look online to try and find some inspiration for interesting scarves and came across this girl Yokoo (http://www.etsy.com/shop/Yokoo) who does these gorgeous fat scarves (see above left) which I would LOVE to be able to do on my machine, but unfortunately it is only able to manage the super fine variety.
I can't really complain- being able to knit up a scarf in 15 minutes is truly the most amazing gift for the impatient types- but still, there would be nothing more amazing than a massive scarf. I might have to get Mum on board, she has these incredible needles as fat as cucumbers which chunks up any ply of wool.
I like to design/ build, that is, start with a general design and then let the process and materials have their own way. If you get too stuck on an end result I find that you can miss out on the unexpected and often a better finished product.
